COVANCE is a leading global drug development services company and we provide support to the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology industries. We are recruiting for our Early Development Unit in Harrogate and are currently seeking to hire a Laboratory Scientist IIA to help support the Immunotoxicology team. This is a full time and permanent contract.

Summary of position:

As part of Global Immunology and Immunotoxicology (I&I) department, we provide support to Clinical, Safety Assessment , and standalone studies over a wide range of Immunology and Immunotoxicology platforms, supporting enhanced solutions based approach to Clients requests.

Laboratory Scientist IIA is responsible for technical duties within I&I and provides support to the Senior Scientists. The jobholder has specific scientific responsibilities which include participating in all procedures in the operational areas of I&I. These include assays, metrology and general lab support duties.


- Providing supervision and guidance to other I&I Scientists/operational personnel.
- Undertaking technical responsibilities as required in the role of Responsible Scientist.
- Ensuring that the Senior Scientists are kept fully updated on the progress of laboratory operations.
- Displaying appropriate awareness of revenue generating implications during performance of their operational duties. The jobholder is expected to extend this awareness to other personnel working alongside their role.
- Supporting other scientific and client facing personnel as required and is expected to be professional at all times according to the SCS principals.
- Ensuring that method development activities are fully documented, observing the highest standards of Good Scientific Practice.
- Understanding and complying with all departmental and company policies.
- Undertaking other duties and responsibilities as may be allocated from time to time by the Senior Scientists.
- Being involved in the current formal overtime system when required.
- Training staff in the implementation of methods or instruments into the laboratory.


BSc in relevant science or equivalent qualification


Years of experience in the job discipline - minimum 2 years

Years of experience in other professional roles - minimum 3 years
