Unix System Administrator x 2 / Exeter / 6 Months Contract / 440 to 550 GBP (Per Day)

**IR35 Status**The client has stated that this role is In Scope of the new off pay-role worker legislation**

I am currently recruiting for The Met Office in Exeter. They are looking for 2 x Limux Systems Administrators for 6 months to start ASAP

This role is In-scope of IR35 and will pay between £440 - £550 dependent on experience

You will be based in Exeter - This role requires you to have SC CLearance

Prior strong experience in executing consulting/professional services project like Infra provisioning, Server hardening & Application setup and configurations using IaC using Puppet as Configuration Management tool

  • Experience in delivering configuration management/orchestration solution using SCM, CI/CD pipeline and Orchestration tools
  • Proven experience working in a team setting on large scale projects
  • Proven experience working with Agile methodologies for delivering software
  • Ability to review and create technical design documentation
  • Working in both development and production environments
  • Identifying and executing on opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Experience using DevOps and Automation tools to deploy, test, and support services in a CI/CD
  • Maintaining and extending estate using puppet and ansible
  • Reverse engineering puppet/ansible scripts and producing Docker containers with equivalent functionality
  • Integrating Linux with Windows AD (for users, groups etc)
  • Experience in CI/CD Build Servers (Jenkins, Artifactory, etc.)
  • Familiarity developing in some languages such as: Python, Ruby, Yaml, Shell
  • Strong understanding of test driven development and testing concepts to participate in unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and load testing
  • Implementation of Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD), utilising Open Source tools (Git, Jenkins) and Cloud based services (AWS)
  • Coaching and development of client and 3rd party resources in line with competency frameworks

  • Standardised Linux builds : repeatable and maintainable
  • Linux shell scripting and administration
  • Working with one or more Virtualisation platforms
  • Good networking skills (IP subnetting and firewall rule design)
  • Ansible, Puppet, Hiera
  • Git, Jenkins
  • Docker, Artifactory
  • ELK, Nagios
