Our Client is one of the UK’s market leaders in their field of food production. The company has expanded considerably in recent years and now spans more than 1800 employees over 400 sites nationwide.

They are now seeking an IT Support Engineer to join their technical division. This position will be part of a small but dynamic IT team who cover all aspects of IT support and development for this diverse business. The IT Support Engineer will be responsible for the day to day support of the businesses IT network and users company wide, ensuring that IT is truly enabling delivery and results.


  • Actively support and maintain applications, software and systems for the business, considering and adapting to a range of user needs and capabilities.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems resolving them in a timely manner, which may be with fixes, patches, or longer term solutions etc.
  • Proactively support users with a broad range of IT queries, including, but not limited to, hardware, software, printers and telephony, as part of a responsive and agile team.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work calmly whilst under pressure to resolve faults with all members of staff.
  • Implement new applications, software and systems rollout including coordinating with colleagues performing testing, engaging with the business to deliver application go live and continued support.
  • Be able to manage time efficiently and prioritise jobs according to the companies SLA’s and impact to business systems.

Technical Skills and knowledge

  • Microsoft Office Applications, Windows and Windows Server Operating Systems, Active Directory and Group Policy
  • Knowledge of HP Switches, Watchguard Firewalls, IP Telephony, IBM Notes, VMWare would be advantageous
  • Experience supporting users and systems on local and wide area networks
  • Experience working in companies who have multiple sites and varying infrastructure
  • Experience in rolling out new systems, software and applications
  • Ability to think creatively and out of the box to come up with better solutions for the business
  • Demonstrable knowledge of applications security best practices and trends
  • Able to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as a part of a team
