Software Tester / Web Application Tester - Manual Testing, Automated Testing, Java Applications, RESTful APIs, Insurance Sector. City of London. Permanent. £55k - £65k +Excellent Benefits.
Global Insurance Fintech Company currently seeks a Software Tester / Web Application Tester to test new web based applications (browser based as well as RESTful APIs) as well as enhancement to existing APIs built on a Java platform.
Working with Agile/Scrum environments you will participate sprints, owning and testing anything from small fixes to entirely new RESTful APIs. You will run both automated and manual tests on Java based web applications using a range of tools including Selenium, Gatling, Jmeter.
Automated testing will include the creation of automated test scripts (within tool such as Selenium or similar) to conduct functional, performance and also unit testing and will require the successful candidate to have a decent understanding of programming whilst not being a programmer themselves. Some Regression testing may also be involved.
The Software Tester / Web Application Tester will work on project teams alongside Java Web Developers and in between projects back within the core QA team utilising Jira to communicate changes where applicable. Any previous experience of working with Java or JVM languages (Scala, Groovy, Clojure etc) from a programming perspective or from a testing perspective would be highly beneficial but you will NOT be expected to write code or make fixes - this is a pure testing role. Strong communication skills (and leadership skills if possible) are required and you will be confident in your ability to communicate with members of multi-functional teams.
The Software Tester / Web Application Tester will have gained experience in both Manual and Automated testing, be able to write test cases and test scripts for automated software testing apps such as Selenium or similar. You will have tested both browser based apps as well as RESTful APIs (ideally JSON apps with XML, SOAP web services / data integration but non-essential) and possess a strong understanding of the SDLC ideally within a Java environment. You may have gained experience within the Insurance sector within a testing capacity although again, this is non-essential. ISTQB certification preferred but non-essential.
Ideally, you will have a background in software engineering/programming either from a relevant degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or possibly from an earlier stage of your career where you will have been a programmer (ideally working with Java) and be able to understand code syntax. This is NOT a development role in any capacity but you will work closely with teams of developers and undertake some Unit testing from time to time.
This is an excellent role for a progressive, dynamic corporation operating from within a brand-new City of London office (well-known building) with a global presence working on a number of projects.
