The Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Administrator to support MediaTek’s R&D sites across Europe. In this position you will provide expert support to users/team members in a high-tech environment, solving complex issues across infrastructure, systems and services. You will also have the opportunity to get involved in exciting global IT project works across regions. This customer-facing role will also involve co-working with colleagues across Europe and the US and may include occasional travel between our UK and wider European sites in order to provide first-class IT support. As such, you will need a valid passport, access to your own vehicle and a full, valid driver’s license. This position may also require occasional out of hours working to minimize the impact of downtime on our end users. Key Responsibilities: · Plan and design the implementation of the LAN (including Brocade, Cisco and other switches), WAN (including F5 load balancers and Viptela), firewalls (including Palo Alto, Juniper and Fortinet), WLAN, VPN, VoIP phones/VC and monitoring tools · Collaborate with HQ/ regional network teams to develop a plan to lifecycle the network incorporating standardized designs, technical roadmaps, feature matrices, financial requirements, risk matrix and lifecycle status · Interact and engage with application/service owners, project managers, vendors, consultants, and contractors to architect, design and implement network solutions · Create and maintain network documentations as it relates to the standardized network topology, equipment, operational support and configurations · Configure and troubleshoot network hardware (including routers, switches, security appliances, wireless controllers, VPN appliances and monitoring tools etc.) · Network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation · Work within an ‘Operational Support Model’ by utilizing network monitoring tools to maintain and report on the health, consumption and availability of the network via metrics and KPIs · Provide assistance to members of our Europe and US IT team, as required · Provide feedback into the organization’s IT development planning · Be able to reasonably work outside normal hours if required (occasionally) to minimize disruption to users Essential Skills & Experience · Proven experience as a Network Administrator planning and designing the implementation of the LAN, WAN, firewalls, WLAN, VPN, VoIP phones/VC and monitoring tools · At least 5 years’ experience of managing enterprise network environments and VMware network environments · Enthusiastic and customer oriented, with excellent communication skills · Experience of handling multiple projects effectively: able to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines · Very good problem solving and troubleshooting skills – must be detail-oriented, accurate and well organized · Proficient in supporting users/team members, both in person and via remote access · Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team Desirable Skills & Experience · Experience of improving and refining designs and processes · Experience with implementing networks in cloud environments, such as AWS, Azure etc. · Experience of installing, deploying and maintaining network storage, preferably NetApp, NextGen and Pure · Experience of mentoring/leading other team members · Research/ study/ experience of new IT/network technologies, such as SDN, Container, Open/Cloud Stack etc. · Experience of supporting Linux systems · Experience of supporting Cisco VoIP · Cisco CCIE/CCNP/CCNA Certificate · Brocade IP related Certificate · VMware VCP · Red Hat RHCE Certificate Location The successful candidate can choose to be based from either our West Malling (Kent) office or our Cambourne (Cambridge), UK office. Travel Although primarily based in West Malling or Cambourne, this role may also require occasional travel to our other European sites (West Malling or Cambourne in the UK, and Amsterdam, Sweden and Finland in wider Europe) to support users, as needed.
