Salary: £85,000 - £95,000

Company: A leading commercial insurer based in the heart of the City.

The Role:

The Programme Manager will be responsible for the delivery of a Portfolio of Strategic technology projects including Infrastructure and Cloud migration, Office 365 and Windows 10 migration, Collaboration tools, migration and mobility, Security projects and IT Operational improvement projects.

This role will report into the CIO and will have managerial responsibility for Project Managers and other staff involved in the delivery of the individual project workstreams.



Responsibilities:
  • Co-ordination of the Technology change portfolio.
  • Line management of Project Managers.
  • Project Manager Recruitment in conjunction with HR and the CIO.
  • Ensure projects adhere to the Project Management methodology and follow and appropriate an appropriate method of delivery.
  • Work closely with the PMO to ensure accurate and time project status reporting and financial management.
  • Ensure delivery expectations are communicated with the business and key stakeholders are kept informed of progress and risk.
  • Ensure delivery teams are aware of their roles, responsibilities and tasks.
  • Establish appropriate Portfolio, Programme and Project governance across the change programme.
  • Developing project plans specifying goals, strategy and staffing, scheduling, identification of risks, contingency plans and allocation of available resources.
  • Identifying and schedules project deliverables, milestones and required tasks
  • Directing and co-ordinating activities of project team members to ensure project progresses on schedule and within budget
  • Ensuring deliverables are produced to required levels of quality
  • Co-ordinating and responding to requests for changes from original specifications
  • Working with third party suppliers and managing supplier relationships to ensure delivery to contractual requirements
  • Working closely with our clients' outsourcing partner to procure and utilise services and resources in support of project delivery.
  • Support the CIO to ensure the delivery of the transformation change agenda.




Required Experience:
  • Degree educated or equivalent.
  • A relevant Project Management qualification, eg PRINCE2, P30, PMP.
  • Familiar with both Waterfall and Agile delivery methods.
  • Experience of managing projects in excess of £500k for durations of at least 6 months, with diverse team mixtures of both in house, outsourced onshore and offshore resources.
  • Experience of managing third party supplier relationships and familiarity with outsource arrangements.
  • Familiarity with current and emerging IT technologies and able to discuss at the appropriate level.
  • An in depth understanding of Infrastructure and experience of managing IT Infrastructure projects is essential.
  • Has the authority and skill to establish good working relationships and influence decisions at the most senior levels within the company.
  • Takes the initiative when appropriate and ensures that the correct people are involved to reach a suitable decision.
  • Team player who is adaptable, understands the organisational needs and is able to manage and motivate a team comprised of individuals with diverse skills and differing needs. Establishes and maintains good working relationships with colleagues in the IT department
  • Will have the necessary negotiation and facilitation skills to challenge where appropriate but to strive to reach a decision that are acceptable to all parties
  • Shares information and knowledge with colleagues
  • Self-motivated and resilient and able to operate independently
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Well organised, realistic and reliable
  • Able to coach and mentor less senior colleagues
