Supplier Development Engineer required on a contract basis to join an industry leading manufacturing business.

You will play a key role in managing ongoing Supplier Performance and drive continuous improvements. You will be part of a dedicated, motivated and successful team which offers a dynamic working environment supporting major projects both internally and externally.

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitoring of supplier adherence to Process Change Notification (PCN) (for changes driven by Supplier and company) on a timely and cost effective basis.
  • Ensuring all relevant requirements and related changes are thoroughly documented e.g. Process FMEA {failure mode & effects analysis}, Process Control Plans, Process flow chart, Gage R&R {repeatability & reproducibility}).
  • Validate Supplier stated Process Capabilities.
  • PPAP (production part approval process) completion and approval prior to delivery of new parts
  • Auditing overall supplier capability and process control implementation and effectiveness to validate process capability.
  • Resolution and implementation of robust solutions for quality problems associated with purchased materials and engineering issues (Robust 8D adherence and closure).
  • Participation in quality improvement meetings
  • Maintain the highest ethical and professional standards within this diverse global organization

Experience required:

  • Proven experience in a similar role.
  • A bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) preferably in engineering
  • Engineering or manufacturing background plus familiarity with manufacturing processes used to produce components and assemblies
  • Knowledge of shop operations Casting and Machining
  • Good interpersonal communication, analytical, leadership and project management skills to develop a cooperative working relationships with others both inside and outside of the company.
  • Capable of using and demonstrating statistical and problem solving tools (8D)
  • History of managing supplier relationships demonstrated by purchasing or supply chain experience
  • Ability to read and understand Engineering drawing


  • Quality engineering certification
  • APQP experience
  • 6 Sigma experience as a Green Belt or Black Belt
  • Working knowledge of metrology
