Field Service Technician

Location: Field Based - East Midlands, Birmingham
Package: £32k, including car, phone, laptop, OT/TOIL & On-call + Benefits & Training
Contract: Full time, Permanent

Comms-care, part of the Ingram Micro Group is a market leading and award winning IT service provider specialising in IT Support Services, Managed IT Services & Professional IT Services. Currently we are looking to add to our growing team of field based service technicians. The role offers an uncapped package including overtime, training & progression.

The Role:

• Pre-sales support
o Requirement analysis, solution specification and design
o Writing scope and quote documents
o Assist with technical tender responses

• Implementation
o Pre-staging of router and switch installations according to documentation
o Installation and support of varied desktop and server estate
o Installation of network equipment at varied customer locations UK wide
o Project based site survey and documentation
o Project based end to end solution and design.

• Post-Sales support
o Assist with customer add, move and change requirements
o On-site support of customer faults
o Site visits to assess and swap non-functional equipment

Skills/person:

• Support & installation of Cisco, Draytek, 3Com, HP or Zyxzel Routers & Switches
• 1st or 2nd line experience in PC hardware, Microsoft Desktop and/or Server support
• Flexible to carry out field-based & on-call duties
• Self-motivated and well organised
• Great communication skills with excellent spoken/written English
• Committed to skills development and obtaining certification
• Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel by car on a daily basis

Preferably you will have Cisco CCNA or equivalent experience and be willing to study and obtain these and more certifications. Candidates will be required to travel to customer sites to achieve contracted service levels. Experience in a customer facing role will be advantageous.
