Background The Finance Office provides a range of support services to the whole of the Diocese. This includes the usual range of finance functions (eg budgets, payments, banking, payroll, investments, etc) as well as property and HR. Reporting to the Payroll and Finance Officer the primary function of this role is to maintain accounts payable and receivable ledgers and assist with payroll processing. Key Responsibilities Below is a list of key responsibilities for this role but please note that this list is not exhaustive: Receipts • Inputting data into SUN • Assisting with managing debtors and updating when payments are received Accounts Payable • Inputting supplier invoices into SUN and liaising with suppliers to resolve queries or other matters • Assisting with managing creditors Payroll To update payroll as required with new starters, leavers and changes • To ensure that payroll information is correct at all times • To participate in any payroll projects as required Ad Hoc • Assisting with other finance work such as month end, banking, filing and inputting other finance data into SUN • Assisting with data cleansing for finance and payroll • Assisting with upgrading the finance system as required Skills and Experience Although this is a junior role within the Finance Team it is critical for keeping the day-to-day accounts up-to-date and ensuring that current technology allows the customers of the Finance Office to be paid and receive information quickly. The job holder, therefore, should have: • Exposure to payroll • Broad experience of electronic banking • Broad experience of SUN • Good Microsoft Office Skills • Good communication skills, especially to be able to explain issues/queries to members of the clergy who may have no financial knowledge • Outstanding attention to detail • Ability to work effectively alone or as part of a team • Willingness to ‘muck in’ and help out with any finance tasks as needed Terms and Conditions Hours of Work: 20 – 25 hours per week over Monday to Friday Salary Range: £22,000pa to £25,000pa depending on experience pro rata for part time hours
