Person Specification - Graduate Teaching Assistant

For this Graduate Teaching Assistant role, hard work and determination is key. The Headteacher of this school is looking for a graduate who can develop positive relationships with pupils and break down barriers to learning. An understanding of SEN (Special Educational Needs) is desirable, either covered in your degree or through other work experience working with children. We want to see graduates with the determination to discern the different needs of pupil's development, both academic and social, and have an empathetic approach to these that will enable them to meet these requirements. You will be a role model to your assigned pupils.

About the role - Graduate Teaching Assistant

Joining the school in January, you will receive full induction training and support from Teachers and Teaching Assistants. You will be provided with safeguarding training. You will be working with a class of 8 Key Stage 3 pupils alongside an outstanding teacher. You will assist in general classroom activities to support the teacher and deliver 1:1 or small group sessions. For many students in this school, achievement has little to do with the classroom. The school focuses heavily on understanding the needs of the individual.
