This award winning R&D organisation are looking for an experienced Electronics Design Engineer / Hardware Engineer, to work on exciting and technically challenging projects on Smart Buildings / Building Automation technology, which combines state of the art software, electronic hardware and firmware. The Hardware Engineer / Electronics Design Engineer will define, design, create and maintain electronic hardware systems and products, including wired/wireless sensors and peripherals which encompass existing legacy and next generation product designs. This is a key product/system development role as part of the electronic hardware team within the R&D department. The experience / knowledge / skills required of the Hardware Design Engineer include : * A relevant hardware/software qualification (Degree or above) * Hardware development experience (3 years minimum and more than 3 completed projects) * Design for high volume manufacturing and testing * Experience in a range of technologies including digital, analogue and lower power electronics (e.g. battery operated) * Familiarity with CAD packages for schematic capture and PCB design * Strong problem solving skills and good knowledge on product design technologies * Experienced in writing design documents and test procedures * Environmental testing and EMC * The ability to work well under pressure * Good communication skills. It would be desirable if the Hardware Engineer had the following skills and experience : * Experience on Detectors and short range wireless devices * Knowledge with Cadence/OrCAD software or similar * Knowledge of Embedded Software. The main accountabilities of the Hardware Design Engineer include : * To design and develop electronic hardware for a range of the next generation wireless products. * To work as part of a team on complex electronics/software projects being a key member and driving force in the detailed design of the products. * To carry out the product/system interference investigation to make sure the products meet the relevant standards and approvals requirements. * To deliver the VA/VE activities on design/development on new and existing products for reducing costs & improving function. * Product Documentation, Manufacturing Documentation, Design Reviews and Support for Test and Approvals.
