BC Legal Job Opportunity: Head of Legal Research/Legal Researcher BC Legal is an occupational disease litigation practice acting exclusively for Defendants. The firm prides itself in providing excellent client care and applying the highest technical standards and expertise in claims handling. We work for several major insurers and their clients, corporate clients and public bodies. An opportunity has arisen for a new Legal Researcher, or, depending on experience, a new Head of Legal Research to join our Southend head office. The individual will be responsible for producing the firm’s successful weekly newsletter, BC Disease News, which is widely distributed to the insurance industry, the Bar, and experts in occupational disease, amongst others. Alongside producing BC Disease News, the Head of Legal Research will be responsible for assisting with legal research across the firm, researching developing medical and scientific knowledge in relevant fields, writing articles and guides and writing legal advice. The Head of Legal Research position will also require management of the Legal Research Team, including one other legal researcher based in the Southend office and a medical researcher who is based in New Zealand and works remotely. The successful candidate will, as a minimum, have: - Completed their academic legal studies (through the completion of a law degree or the GDL); - high intellectual ability, with a minimum of a 2.1 degree (save in exceptional circumstances); - completed the LPC or the BPTC; - excellent legal research skills; - exceptional writing ability; - excellent organisational skills; and - a good command of IT software. The successful candidate will, preferably, have: - Previous experience of practice in the personal injury sector; - received education in a science subject beyond secondary education.
