Powertrain Analysis Engineer An exciting opportunity has become available for a Powertrain Analysis Engineer working on a permanent basis with a very important automotive manufacturing company based in Swindon, Wiltshire. Reporting to the Powertrain Warranty Engineering Section Manager, the main purpose of your role will be to investigate warranty concerns related to powertrain components. This is in order to understand root cause and drive through the implementation of appropriate countermeasures. This role will offer you the opportunity to integrate with a team of Engineers from widely varying backgrounds. No two days are the same, one day you could be visiting a dealer in Europe to diagnose a concern, the next day you could be presenting findings to the Company's European Senior Management team. The role will expose you to a variety of manufacturing processes, from Die Casting and CNC Machining through to precision electronics manufacturing. Availability to travel globally at short notice is essential for this role. Main responsibilities: * Carrying out on car or bench testing of returned components in order to identify the responsibility for the failure, i.e. supplier, in-house or dealer * Collating all relevant data in order to evidence findings * Liaising with the responsible area in order to implement necessary countermeasures in the timeliest manner * Liaising with after sales network in order to publicise and deploy the countermeasures To be considered for the position of Powertrain Analysis Engineer you must have/be: * Proven experience of carrying out fitment of parts to vehicles and be capable of advanced diagnostics * Ability to compile data and present it in such a way that members from a wide variety of audiences can grasp the technical details * Advanced Microsoft Office capability, particularly manipulation of large volumes of data in Excel * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, and specifications * Demonstrable in-depth understanding of automotive powertrain technologies * Experience of automotive Data Acquisition systems * Knowledge of Hybrid vehicle technologies and systems would be highly advantageous * Experience of working in a Supplier Quality Assurance type role What we want from you: To be successful in this role you must be flexible, not only in your approach but also with regards to the subject matter.
