We are currently seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join our Finance Department at our offices in Cheadle.

The successful candidate will have the ability to ensure that all sales are made with the minimum of credit risk and in be in accordance with our credit control policies. You will be responsible for the maintenance of company cash flow by ensuring that cash due from customers is collected according to payment terms. Crucially, you will ensure that the Sales ledger is always accurate, up to date and can be relied upon to identify the Current Debtor position.

You will be required to establish and maintain credit limits for all customers in accordance with credit control policy. By reviewing and advising on overdue accounts you will identify possible Bad Debt risks. Through the careful monitoring of orders received against exposure, you will ensure that all risks are known and understood.

Carrying out cash collection from customers by telephone, issuing statements, dunning letters or using external agencies/legal methods is a key part of the role.

You will work closely with all departments as required to ensure queries affecting our ability to collect cash are managed and dealt with promptly.

Other Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Produce monthly/weekly control reports as required and circulate including month end debt summary.
  • Bank all cheques received in a timely manner.
  • Accurate daily recording of cash received onto the sales ledger ensuring that the Accounts Receivable ledger accurately reflects the status of accounts at all times including daily bank reconciliations.
  • Process sales ledger month end routines ensuring all reconciliations are completed.
  • Monitor all sales invoices (including pro forma) ensuring they correspond to customer’s purchase order and are processed correctly.
  • Manage invoicing/cash collection on electronic portals where required.
  • Ensure prompt authorisation/recording and timely production of credit notes where required.

    Person Specification

    You will have the ability to provide effective written and verbal communication; be proficient in the use of Microsoft packages and general IT applications and have considerable credit control / finance experience.

    Hours of Work : 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday (approximately 4 hours per day)

    Location : Office Based
