Residential Child Care Worker
We are currently looking for a Care Worker to join our team in the Merseyside area for the provision of residential care and support services for children and young people who may display challenging behaviours. Responsibilities: - Ensure needs are met through effective assessment & care planning - Support and participate in social and recreational activities in line with care plan - Ensure all medical needs are met - Facilitate and support young people in decision making - Apply strategies developed in response to challenging behaviours - Encourage young people to maintain acceptable levels of personal and environmental hygiene - Record information about young people and ensure good communication with Staff Members - Once trained, administer medication (if applicable) - Ensure that young peoples’ personal property and clothing is maintained to a high standard - Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with young peoples’ personal and financial affairs - Report any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a young person, colleague or self - Report any faulty appliances, damaged furniture or equipment - Maintain the petty cash records in line with Company policies and procedures - Ensure that all information of confidential nature gained is not divulged to third parties - Ensure the security of our houses are maintained at all times The above is not an exhaustive list of the duties and responsibilities that will be carried out and may be changed if required. Skills: - Ability to work on own initiative - Knowledge/understanding of issues relating to people with emotional & challenging behaviours & learning difficulties - A commitment to provide support to vulnerable individuals which is respectful to the individuals’ wishes - Good communication skills written and verbal - Commitment to training and self-development - Car driver, willing to use own car as required and ability to homes vehicle / drive minibus where applicable - Complete shift work which include sleep in duties - Flexible and innovative approach - Knowledge of care planning systems - Decision-making and problem-solving skills SALARY: £7.75 per/hr plus £50 per sleep (min 10 sleeps) equivalent to £20,880 per annum. Due to regulations requiring workers to be older than the children they are working with, you will need to be aged 21 years or over and hold an NVQ level 3 or equivalent in children and young people.
