Senior Materials Engineer/Technologist (Materials Specialist) The Company Our client has been an integral part of rail business for over half a century. The Successful Applicant: • Degree-qualified with a preference towards an Engineering discipline (minimum HNC) • Extensive knowledge of rubber/polymers/plastic composites is essential • Writing material specifications • Lab work experience – material testing • Responsible for all material issues and approvals • Materials and part knowledge is used to produce qualification test plans • Produce reports in order to prove compliance of parts to customer specifications and drawing requirements • Responsibility for all material issues and approvals for the site • Management of all materials and part certification activity • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team • Computer literate, working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel • Commercial and financial awareness • Capable of controlling projects/work packages • Able to deal with multiple issues, tasks and priorities concurrently • Hands on person with theoretical knowledge who is not shy to get their hands dirty • You would describe yourself as a doer • Rail industry experience is an advantage but not essential • Ability to travel, UK and abroad (Opportunity to live abroad) • Valid Driving Licence Extensive training in the range of company products will be given.
