Job title: Welder (Aluminium) – Truck and Bus Division Location: Wisbech General Description The Welder & Fabricator works as part of a team within the Truck and Bus division and is responsible for the manufacture of bespoke products within the truck and bus industry. Components manufactured within this role include fuel, oil, engine coolant and ad-blue tanks using a range of materials such as aluminium and ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Other bespoke products include toolboxes, A frames, side-skirts and health and safety equipment. Duties and Responsibilities · To ensure the accurate fabrication of raw materials into appropriate end product to the customer specifications. · To ensure that company quality control procedures are followed at all times · To read and accurately interpret complex CAD drawings into relevant end products · To ensure that all jobs issued are completed within the given timescales · To accurately complete and return each job card issued in line with Type Approval regulations · To complete installations and repair of equipment at the customer site where requested · To ensure that COP and Type Approval standards are upheld at all times · To ensure welding is kept to standard BS EN ISO 9606-2:2004 TIG 141 P FW 22 S t4 PB sl & BS EN ISO 9606-2:2004 MIG 131 P FW 22 S t4 PB sl · Ensure compliance with all aspects of the Health & Safety policy · Ensure equality and diversity is actively promoted in the workplace · Any other duty as directed by the Foreman Key measures · All new equipment is produced to customer build specifications. Liaises with Foreman as appropriate. · A minimum audit level of 7 is maintained at all times. Absence of NCR’s and customer complaints · CAD drawings are read accurately. Uses experience as appropriate to interpret into a finished product. Raw materials accurately produced and assembled from scratch · All jobs issued are completed on time and to customer specifications. Timelines are reviewed and any adjustments required are agreed with the Foreman to ensure expectations are met. Type Approval and product quality is maintained at all times · Job cards are completed accurately and timely and include materials used and the time taken to complete. Any issues are captured on the card. Completed cards are returned to the Foreman in a timely manner. Type Approval standards are maintained · Installation and repair of equipment completed on customer site. All external site safety regulations are adhered to at all times. Company appropriately represented at all times · Work area is kept tidy. Routinely clears up workstation and surrounding area at end of shift. Standards required by Type Approval standards are maintained at all times · Has passed welding standard BS EN ISO 9606-2:2004 TIG 141 P FW 22 S t4 PB sl & BS EN ISO 9606-2:2004 MIG 131 P FW 22 S t4 PB sl. Consistently welds to these standards · H&S policy is adhered to at all times. · Appropriately conducts self with colleagues and stakeholders. Absence of complaints · All other duties are completed accurately, timely and in line with procedure Experience, knowledge & skills Essential · Ability to pass aluminium TIG & MIG coded welding test within 3 months employment. · Relevant welding qualification · Proven ability to work off of own initiative · Excellent verbal communication skills · Physically fit – role requires job holder to regularly lift, bend, stretch and handle difficult and heavy items · Full, clean UK driving licence · Right to work in the UK Preferred · Hold coded welding certificate BS EN ISO 9606-2:2004 · Previous experience of fabricating fuel / oil tanks within the commercial vehicle industry · Previous experience of operating a guillotine and press brake Personal qualities required · Attention to detail · Takes pride in their work · Happy to work outside of comfort zone · Thrives in a fast paced environment · Can think on their feet · Can work independently as well as part of a team · Adapts quickly to unexpected priorities
