Client Details

My client is a prestigious brand that works with some of the most recognised names in the UK. They are based in the heart of Tunbridge Wells and are seeking an Accounts Manager with strong supervisory skills to assist the FD in leading their talented finance team.

Description

The core responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • VAT; reconcile and complete the quarterly VAT return and EC sales list; self billing
  • Line management; staff training, mentoring and development; appraisals; team meetings; delegation; sharing the workload efficiently
  • Supplying assistance and routine reports to the Director of Finance, other directors and staff
  • Understand the purpose of accruals and prepayments and management accounts
  • Assist with the preparation for the annual audit; preparing reconciliations, summaries, schedules and analysis; answering auditors' questions
  • Oversee and assist other members of the team, eg:
  • purchase ledger; generation and despatch of purchase orders; posting invoices; invoice approval; selecting accounts for payment; creating payment batches; credit card payments; posting payments; liaising with suppliers over disputed invoices
  • ledgers: reconciliations, control accounts, bank account, petty cash, multi-currency, postings to general ledger, journals
  • tidiness and analysis of general, sales and purchase ledgers
  • fixed asset postings; depreciation; registers; disposals
  • sales invoicing; although not a regular part of this role, you will be expected to: know how to raise sales invoices for when other staff are absent; process sales invoices and related correspondence based on documentation supplied by the sales teams; maintain sales ledger and related spreadsheets
  • credit control
  • maintenance of the department's procedures manual

Profile

The successful candidate will:

  • Have excellent Excel skills- V Lookups, Pivot Tables and Sum Ifs are a minimum - ideally more advanced
  • Ideally have a practical working knowledge of Navision software
  • Have excellent supervisory skills
  • Be self motivated
  • Be able to apply initiative to the role
  • Ideally have a previous practical working knowledge of systems transition
