Your new company
Hays office support are currently working with a leading financial service organisation based in York. Due to growth they are looking for Underwriters to join their team. Full training will provided to the successful applicant, previous underwriting experience is not required.
Your new role
Within this role you will be responsible for underwriting a range of insurance policies for new and existing customers. As an Underwriter, you'll predominantly work with colleagues in the Agency network. An agent will come to you for help on underwriting their customers' business. You'll analyse it, assess the risks and work out the best way to do this at the best price. You'll then propose and negotiate policy terms, including appropriate limitations and endorsements. You'll review and check insurance quote submissions, referrals and amendments, talking to the relevant agent to establish material facts to ensure new business and policy changes meet underwriting criteria.
What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will have common sense and have a thorough approach to their work. You will be great at building strong working relationships. You will look and think beyond the obvious to find a solution that will work for the customer and the business. Underwriting is not essential. You will have proven customer service experience.
