Role: Project Engineer - Automation
Type: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 + pension, company shares. Following 12 months service: cash plan, life assurance (twice salary), up to 27 days holiday (+ bank holidays following length of service)
Location: Leicester, Leicestershire.
Hours: 40 hours week. Monday - Thursday 8:00-5:00pm & Friday 8:00am- 3:20pm. 32 days holiday.
Our client is a manufacturer of parts and components for the automotive industry. Our client is currently seeking a 'hands-on' Project Engineer - Automation to assist with the installation of new and improvement of existing automated production lines into their manufacturing facility.
·You will be required to work within the Engineering team (production & maintenance) identifying and delivering improvements to existing facilities and production processes.
·Assist with the introduction of new facilities, equipment, processes and projects into the production facilities.
·Support the introduction of new projects on time and within budget constraints.
·Implement PLC programming - Siemens and Mitsubishi of new and existing lines/equipment and assist in the delivery of 'in-house' PLC competency.
·General Automation; new production equipment automation and automation improvements within manufacturing plant.
·Responsible for the automation of existing plant and equipment, support equipment improvements and new equipment specification.
·Introduce new process and production concepts and continuous improvements.
·Responsible for ensuring tooling, equipment and processes achieve stipulated requirements.
·Assist with LEAN Manufacturing principles i.e. Kaizan, Lean 6 Sigma, 5S's.
·NPI Processes / feasibility's: process documentation, project planning, process improvements and optimisation.
·Responsible for specification/maintenance of tooling, equipment, plant and machinery.
·Assist where required with PPM/TPM and reactive maintenance activities and projects.
·Qualified to HNC level in Electronics / Mechatronics.
·Timed served / Apprentice Trained or Degree level engineer.
·Experience of working on existing and implementing new Automated Production lines and programming PLC systems - essential.
·Thorough understanding of PLC Programming and fault diagnostics - essential.
·Demonstrable practical experience of Process Automation - essential.
·Ability to understand engineering drawings and 3D Geometric Tolerances.
·Strong communication skills - able to communicate at all levels.
·Ability to plan, prioritise, organise and with proven time management skills.
·Operation of job specific work equipment and software packages: PLC software (ideally Siemens) and hardware programming, operating and diagnostics.
·IT: Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
·Competency in PLC programming - essential.
·Automation, handling and assembly - essential.
·Good commercial acumen: Budget control, cost reduction initiatives.
