Your new school
This school is an 11-18, mixed comprehensive school located in the East Cardiff area. All staff are all committed to upholding school ethos. Founded in 1966 as an 11-16 voluntary aided Church-in-Wales High School, the school has grown to become a large and very popular 11-18 school of 1400 students. It serves the eastern half of the city of Cardiff, and draws its students from a wide range of backgrounds. The school is currently recruiting for a Biology teacher to cover a full time role on a long-term supply basis, this is likely to turn into a permanent role for the right candidate.
Your new role
Starting in January you will be a key part of the dedicated Science department responsible for teaching a timetable of KS3 KS4 and KS5 Biology lessons to a variety of students of different learning abilities. This job is a full-time position starting on ASAP. Your role will include full teaching responsibilities including staff meetings, parent's evenings, pastoral responsibilities, planning and preparation of lessons along with marking and assessment. This is your chance to put your mark on a school and implement success through your teaching.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a qualified teacher registered with the Education Workforce Council. You will have previous experience in delivering Biology lessons within a secondary school. You will have a passion for development and a track record in helping pupils to achieve strong results. You will have a strong classroom presence with good behavioural and classroom management skills. You will share a commitment to safeguarding and will hold a DBS check or be happy to have one put into process.

You will be offered a daily pay rate of between £120 and £135 per day and will have the opportunity to teach your own time table along with monitoring the results for your own class. This is covering the loss of a permanent member of staff so is likely to turn into direct employment with the school.
