The Team’s responsibilities include providing legal advice across Action on Hearing Loss’s activities, supporting the board of trustees and managing relationships and filings with external regulators including the Charity Commission, Companies House and the ICO. The Senior Solicitor, along with the Solicitor who they will manage, will play an intricate role in ensuring the charity operates effectively in managing its legal risks by advising on a wide range of operational matters within our services, fundraising, commercial, policy and campaigns, and research teams, as well as reviewing a variety of funding bids, third party fundraising arrangements, property leases and commercial contracts. The role will also involve advising on data protection, trademark and governance queries. Building and managing productive internal stakeholder relationships across the charity, will be key to this role, as will be the ability to plan and manage a caseload. This role will also provide an exciting opportunity to design and shape the legal function by developing and maintaining a case management framework including ensuring robust planning, monitoring and document management processes are on the team, as well as devising a proactive approach to preventing risks by ensuring key tools such as policies, guidance and training are in place and embedded. In addition, it will involve undertake continuous improvement reviews to ensure the function is up to date and operating effectively.
