We are currently seeking an experienced Supplier Development / Supplier Quality Engineer to undertake a key role in development of supplier performance and improvement of in-house product quality.

This is a highly autonomous, customer facing Supplier Development Engineer's role which necessitates strong engineering and commercial acumen. The ability to undertake regular national and travel to supplier sites will be an essential requirement of the role. You will also support ongoing continuous improvements to in-house product quality.

With a proven background in Engineering (likely to be Manufacturing Engineering or Quality Engineering) within an electro-mechanical or mechanical manufacturing environment as Supplier Development Engineer you will have responsibility for:

Regularly attending supplier production facilities to ensure product and process conformance and on time delivery of quality components
Working with and developing poorly performing suppliers
Supporting Engineering with complex supplier issues
Driving continuous improvement activities with suppliers, engineering and production
Working with suppliers to develop the use of appropriate quality tools (including process capability, FMEA, 8D, fool proofing, DOE, SPC, FAI and PPAP)
Embedding process and / or product change into the supply chain

To succeed in this role, you will need to have proven experience within an engineering environment (ideally electro-mechanical or mechanical) coupled with proven supplier management / development expertise. Time served apprentice background or HND/ degree level engineering qualification ideally sought. A sound working knowledge of lean principals and their application (such as 8D, PPAP and APQP) however is essential.
The ability to deliver change within the supply chain and coach and train others and build strong relationships is also essential.

This is a highly autonomous, customer facing role which necessitates strong engineering and commercial acumen. A full, clean driving licence and the ability to travel regularly (mainly UK based) to supplier sites will be an essential requirement of the role (although you will need to be able to commute to the production facility regularly / be based from for the time you are not with suppliers).
