Electrical Technician Are you an Electrical Technician or Electrician? We can offer you an opportunity to work for an organisation at the forefront of Fusion energy research in Culham, Oxfordshire. Objective: You will be responsible for the provision of electrical engineering support and capability to the Site Technical Services Group (STSG). You'll enable the successful delivery of operation, maintenance and enhancement of JET non-pulsed power supplies distribution and have responsibility for managing the STSG electrical test section. Responsibilities: * To take responsibility for ensuring plant faults are quickly addressed. * Ensure all work undertaken by the Group complies with current legislation and codes of practice and delivered safely and effectively. * Take full ownership of delivery of the electrical testing programme at CCFE, Culham. * Lead and manage multi-disciplinary teams in support of JET operations. * Take full ownership of assigned work packages ensuring all technical criteria is satisfied and that work can be carried out in a safe and cost effective manner. * Take responsibility for design, specification, procurement, installation and commissioning of assigned electrical tasks. * Manage supplier requirements including review and approval of supplier documents and ensure costs are controlled within Group budgetary constraints. * Provide assurance by review and analysis of existing switchgear and cabling. * Contribute to project teams for projects within and beyond the Department. * Preparation of engineering procedures, method statements, and local rules in support of STSG requirements. * Provide technical support to other Groups as required. * Ensure STSG electrical section records are accurate and sufficient. Qualifications and Experience required: * HNC/HND or equivalent although strong, proven experience in a similar role is of equal interest. * Demonstrable knowledge of large distribution networks. * A high level of understanding of electrical safety and work control system components. Additional responsibilities: * Be appointed as AP(E) for non-pulsed power. * Authorised to carry out electrical isolations and issue appropriate certificates. * Authorised to switch HV and LV equipment in support of JET and CCFE operations. * Competency mentor for STSG group craftsmen.
