IT System Support Officer
Up to £25,000

Your new role
To implement, develop, evaluate and support the organisation's software, systems and databases in line with customer needs, to ensure the successful delivery of corporate objectives
To ensure the on-going availability, security and efficiency of corporate systems by providing 2nd and 3rd line support and system administration for the Association's and other related systems.
Provide technical support on software applications in order to resolve user issues as accurately and as quickly as possible.
Database management and maintenance in Microsoft SQL Server and Ingres environments.
Liaising with a variety of 3rd parties relating to support for systems / software.
Take adequate measures to ensure all databases and systems are backed up and maintained appropriately. Provide support and maintenance for applications in a Microsoft Windows and Redhat Linux environment. Produce technical documentation and pass-over training as necessary for reference by other IT staff members. Provide assistance for users, forwarding unresolved problems to suppliers, monitoring progress of calls made to the supplier support desk, to ensure the appropriate level of support is provided to the user as quickly and cost effectively as possible.
Attend external IT User Group meetings relating to relevant systems, and account review meetings with suppliers.
Working with Senior IT Systems Analyst to organise testing of new software releases prior to installation of upgrades, to ensure that the upgrades are installed with minimum disruption to users.
Create and maintain SQL scripts to extract, convert and input data from and to various systems.
To provide cover (including IT Helpdesk duties) for the IT Operations Team when appropriate, and as requested by the IT Manager, Senior IT Systems Analyst or Senior IT Technical Analyst.
Support users on/off site with ad-hoc queries and faults.

Experience needed
Specialist technical knowledge, skills and experience relevant to the post.
Working towards or already hold a professional IT qualification.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both written and verbal).
An ability to work under pressure and prioritise work-loads.
Positive and flexible approach to the post, and an ability and willingness to work outside of normal office hours on occasions.
