The Organisation The Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation is the oldest and largest Commonwealth membership organisation in the field of information and communication technologies (ICTs). They have a diverse membership spanning developed and least developed countries, small island developing states, the private sector and civil society. The CTO aims to become a trusted partner for sustainable development for all through ICT’s, with a range of innovative and diverse projects tailored to the varied members needs. Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation Director Development (ICT) £60-£70,000 Based W6 (Hammersmith) Offered as a 4 year fixed contract which can be extended by 1 additional term. You must be a national of a CTO Full Member Country (list available from CTO website) The Role The Director of ICT Development is a strategic role responsible for a broad range of revenue generating activities including Technical Support and Consultancy, Capacity Development and Events and advisory services. The postholder will provide strong leadership and implement strategies for broadening and growing operational revenue, as well as focusing on ICT development and use for members. This will require experience in delivering programmes and activities within some or all of the following – research, project development, technical support and assistance, consultancies, advisory services and capacity building relating to the requirements of member countries and in line with the priorities of the International ICT and development communities. An ambassadorial role for the organisation you will maintain and develop a high reputation for the CTO, including the promotion of national and sector membership, development of International events and securing new funding agreements with existing and potential funders. The Person You will need a proven track record within the global ICT sector and experience of working strategically to deliver programmes to grow operational revenue within the outlined areas. This will require first class relationship management/development experience with the ability to identify opportunities and be a catalyst to push ideas in to action. Having an oversight and understanding of how to develop existing and/or new projects and programmes that will benefit members to encourage sustainable development for all through ICT’s. You will have a demonstrable track record of dealing with high level decision makers, the ability to prioritise a busy workload and meet tight deadlines. Managing an established team you will lead by example and enthuse for future direction. A Masters degree in development, general management or related field (or equivalent experience) is required.
