Job Overview

  • To be the Subject Matter Expert and take responsibility for the administration, support and enhancement of the application portfolio
  • Technical Lead in the support of bespoke applications using the .NET framework
  • Extensive Application Support and development experience within a senior role
  • As the Senior Application & Database Support Analyst you will be technically adapt to leading, driving and improving the resolution and performance of applications and mentoring junior members of the team
  • Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for the implementation (involves release/change management) of a new or existing business application.
  • Ensure that the upgrade and testing of third party applications is completed as required.
  • Provide quick follow up and response to any issues that may arise regarding our applications.
  • Accountable for a subset of our application portfolio with a view to own, define and enhance the required maintenance and support process.
  • Working closely with developers, BSA’s and a variety of end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction. This would include the creation of user stories and input into the functional enhancements process.
  • Responsible for the support and implementation of some database administration tasks.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of all user manuals and application documentation.
  • Responsible for the availability of applications.
  • Responsible for defining & execution of the recovery process for applications when incidents occur.
  • Essential Skills / Knowledge - Technical

  • TSQL, SSIS and Stored procedures
  • MS SQL Server 2008 support
  • IIS Support
  • PowerShell scripting
  • Experience in understanding and investigating application code within .NET development languages. Use of Fiddler or similar debugging tools
  • ITIL V3 Foundation
  • Tools and Processes

  • ServiceNow or similar Service Management tool
  • Experience in Project Management and testing principles
  • Qualifications

  • MCDBA (Microsoft Certified Database Administrator) or MCTS (Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist) prior to 2012
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) SQL Server post 2012
  • ITIL V3 Foundation qualified
