New opportunity not to be missed! Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Accounts Assistant to join the team based in Stockport. You will be on a full time permanent contract, with a highly competitive salary.

The Role as their Accounts Assistant

As an Account Assistant your main responsibility will be performing general accounting duties including cashbooks, purchase ledger, payments, and month end. You will be a key member of the accounts team, working alongside and in direct contact with internal staff at a senior management/director level. Other aspects of the job will be to cover for Expenses, Document Scanning, and Fixed Assets, Maintain security and control of the Office safe, Update task specific procedures & conducting Appraisal Development Tasks.

The role requires a highly motivated team player and quick learner with a passion and an eye for detail. They will help you in identifying any training required to increase your knowledge and skills, and consistently be improving at your job. To be successful in this role as their Accounts Assistant you will need to have accountancy experience in a similar role. This is the perfect role for a dynamic professional with drive to succeed and who has a keen eye for detail.

As an Accounts Assistant you will be expected to perform many of the following tasks:

- Download daily bank statement updates

- Update cashbooks for payments and receipts

- Organise Direct Debit for payments

- Organise Nominal Payments & Receipts including Nominal coding and maintain Nominal Payments/Receipts File

- Prepare Bank Reconciliations/ Bank Transfer letters

- Manage and maintain Petty Cash records

- Purchase Ledger Management

- Sales Ledger Management

- Month End/Year End Ledger Routines

- Financial Accounting Support – Year End, Audit, and Adhoc

Requirements and Experience needed to become their Accounts Assistant

- Minimum 5 x GCSE Grade ‘C’ including Maths and English

- AAT membership (qualified or student)

- Strong organisational ability, numerate and attention to detail

- Extensive work experience in a relevant role in a £40M+ organisation

- Smart and professional appearance and behaviour

- Confident and effective telephone manner

- Able to multi-task

- Computer literate with a working knowledge of MS Office

- Working knowledge of Pegasus Opera software or similar accounting system, and Barclays.NET
