Job Title: Production Manager Location: Northampton Salary: up to £45’000 Key responsibilities; -Responsible for the effective monitoring and communication to Plant Manager of KPI’s to demonstrate manufacturing and assembly areas are achieving desired targets. Emphasis on: 1) Health & safety 2) Quality – internal (First Pass Yield) 3) On time in full Delivery – schedule adherence / build to plan 4) Cost – to include efficiency, productivity and overtime 5) Identify and champion improvement plans and activities that are needed where KPI’s are not meeting desired targets -Manage and coach Production Managers to be effective in the day to day running of given production areas -Manage resources to optimise efficiency and productivity for given areas of responsibility -Be conversant with policies and procedures – e.g. Environment, Health & Safety, Quality – and ensure all are met and maintained for areas of responsibility -Hold daily communication sessions with Production Managers to review KPI’s, understand pending concerns and cascade important company information -Conduct regular effective employee personal assessments – identifying and implementing agreed developmental requirements for each -Ensure that all working practices are carried out safely utilising correct tools, equipment and processes -Champion 5S within areas of responsibility -Carry out all duties in line with company polices and handbook -Support the introduction of new products -To carry out any other reasonable requests that may arise from the Plant Manager Essential Competencies; -Honesty and integrity -Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing/production environment -Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing/production management role -Demonstrate efficient use of resources without compromise to health and safety, product quality or environment -Knowledge of production assembly processes and be able to demonstrate an understanding of best practice methodologies -Experience of capacity and resource planning -Experience of lean manufacturing and six sigma -Reliable, enthusiastic, dynamic individual with a positive can-do attitude -Demonstrate initiative and excellent organisational skills -Demonstrate effective leadership, coaching/mentoring and man management skills -Demonstrate successful project leadership and execution -Flexible when business needs require it -Ability to quickly rationalise concerns, manage priorities and approach problems in a methodical way -Willingness to perform and assist in a team environment -The ability to clearly communicate with and present to all levels of personnel -Computer literate - able to use Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and Powerpoint) -Professional approach to day to day tasks and problems and ability to lead by example Desirable Competencies; (Non Essential) -Working knowledge Axapater or Plex -Six sigma certificate -IOSH or NEBOSH certificate of competency and understanding -A management specific qualification – e.g. NVQ, Diploma, HNC, Degree -The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
