ABOUT THE ROLE:

This North Birmingham faith school requires an additional science graduate to work as a science teaching assistant within the science department. You will be predominantly work with GCSE students, preparing them for their GCSE exams. You will then spend the majority of your time covering and leading your own lessons in the Science department

This fantastic opportunity to work full-time as a Science Academic Coach will boost your prospects of securing a teacher training post the following year, plus you will earn £300 per week!

In this role, you will initially have a shadowing period whereby you will have the opportunity to learn all you need to know about lesson structures and behaviour techniques. You will be teaching up to KS4 and need good subject knowledge in all three Sciences.

ABOUT YOU:

The Head of Science is keen to appoint a reliable and highly-academic graduate science teaching assistant who has excellent scientific subject knowledge. You must have a good understanding of Biology, Chemistry and Physics with a degree in any of the scientific specialisms - this is due to the high standard of Science knowledge required within the National Curriculum

You will have a degree in any science and a minimum of a 2:1 is required. In addition to your academic background, you will need to be confident, enthusiastic and highly positive.

This is a demanding, yet highly rewarding role, where you will essentially be working as an unqualified teacher, so will need to be able to hit the ground running and proactive about your own development.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL:

You will have support the science teachers with planning and delivering excellent lessons, to then create, plan and lead your own lessons.

You will support the department to ensure students gain a better understanding of key scientific concepts to enable them to progress their learning.

Once you feel more confident in your role, you will have the opportunity to take on more responsibility in terms of cover and preparing your own resources
