Civil Engineering & Groundworks Trainer

Salary: £29,243 - £34,006 per annum (dependant on experience)

The Civil Engineering and Groundworks department is looking for a highly organised, flexible and motivated full-time CETC Trainer who has experience in Civil Engineering and Grounds Works and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people at all ages and levels to join our newly formed Civil Engineering and Groundworks Apprenticeship teaching team. This newly developed curriculum provision is employer led and as a result of Fareham College's responsiveness to local employer skills shortages. We are the only Further Education College in Hampshire that offers this bespoke Apprenticeship provision which provides a well-paid and highly attractive Apprenticeship package.

Role Purpose

The CETC Trainer role is crucial in supporting the training and assessing of Civil Engineering and Groundworks Apprentices and trainees through their intensive, full time training programme to ensure they are work/site ready by week 21. Within the 20-week programme the CETC Trainer will deliver the practical and knowledge requirements for the Level 2 technical certificate and NVQ L2 as part of the Apprenticeship Framework. Apprentices/trainees are also required to complete CSCS and CPCS accreditation as well as abrasive wheels' certification, Manual Handling certification and Cat & Genny training. After this initial 20 week programme the CETC trainer will be responsible for ensuring all aspects of the NVQ qualification are achieved thorough site visits and liaison with the NVQ assessor(s), apprentices, employers'/site managers.

The ideal candidate will have experience of training and/or assessing of:

  • Technical certificate/NVQ L2 in Civil Engineering and Groundworks
  • CSCS Delivery
  • CPCS Delivery
  • Health and Safety
  • Curb and slab laying
  • Setting out for groundworks
  • Technical drawings
  • Drainage
  • Foundation types

CETC Trainer in Civil Engineering and Ground Works Duties:

  • To undertake a training programme including all aspects of the training, learning and assessing included within the Civil Engineering and Groundworks Apprenticeship/traineeship
  • To act as a Course Leader for designated course(s)
  • Responsibility for the quality and implementation of the curriculum
  • Assist with the development and design of the Civil Engineering Training Centre
  • To assist the Centre Manager, Head of Department and Director of Curriculum in the management and review of the curriculum in accordance with College policies
