Job - Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Chief Electrical Engineer) Location – Birmingham, West Mids Salary - £45,000 p.a Our Client has an outstanding reputation for high quality products and are now recruiting for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Chief Electrical Engineer designate) to enhance and become a key member of our team and to grow our competency within solution provision for this industry. Skills & Experience, Responsibilities • Report directly to the Design Manager on system design solutions to determine the customer’s requirement, recommend possible solutions, agree a common specification and produce a design concept to meet the company’s objectives. • Design and produce detail drawings to meet the specification requirements. • To assist in the planning of design activities to achieve timescales and to ensure that engineering / production costs are kept to a minimum. • To liaise with customer’s engineers and implement design modifications where necessary / resolve issues as necessary. • Technical Specification reviews in order to prepare design proposals to industry standards using mainly SolidWorks (some AutoCAD) Electrical and Microsoft Office packages. • Have a good understanding of Qualification procedures and Type Testing requirements (shock, vibration, IP, EMC, corrosion). In particular a good working knowledge on EMC would be an advantage. • Experience of CE requirements (Low Voltage directive, EMC Directive) and producing technical files. • Experience in project management, including controls, planning and estimating and preparation of deliverables/work package. • Electronic design / photometric experience would be an advantage. Suitable Electrical Design Engineers will have: • A degree in Electrical Engineering. • Experience of Solidworks Electrical (mechanical would be an advantage) and AutoCAD. • Able to interact with customers, suppliers and manufacturers. • Experience working on 440, 230, 115 and 24V systems and applying all the necessary Legislative standards. • Able to work in a team and take a leading role in the design development phase. • Proven ability to reach practical, cost-effective and safe solutions. • Proven experience of working with control and instrumentation systems. • A desire to mentor younger engineers to become well rounded Senior Electrical engineers.
