The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the availability, performance, integrity and security of databases across the group.

Looking for extensive skills in the design, delivery, operation and support of database technologies, specifically Microsoft SQL Server.

We are looking for someone to take ownership of our global database estate and to guide the firm in implementing best practice.

Main Responsibilities:-

Performance Tuning Identifying and resolving performance issues to keep applications and processes responsive
Backup and Recovery Ensuring there are regular and consistent backups in case of unexpected failures
Running ad hoc scripts Running scripts or jobs to bolster ad-hoc processes
Capacity Planning Accessing business growth and provisioning systems to support it
High Availability\Disaster Recovery Provide design and support expertise for HA solutions. Devise and test disaster recovery plans.
Monitoring Watching the SQL Server environment to deal with issues before they become significant problems
Load Balancing Ensuring no one server or resource is a hot spot
Testing Checking processes and procedures before they are deployed to production environments
Vendor Relations Keeping live relationships with external vendors
SSIS\ETL Processes Developing and providing expertise on extract, load and transform solutions
Maintaining Documentation Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and reference architectures
Auditing identifying who accessed\modified data and when
Security Ensuring the right people access the right data and no uncontrolled copies exist
Installing and Configuring Servers Installation and configuration of the VM and OS to best support SQL Server
Installing, Configuring, Patching and Upgrading SQL Server Installing and testing new versions of database management systems
Managing SQL Server-based Applications Working with applications that are supported by SQL Server and aiding with troubleshooting issues
Maintaining Servers and Databases Making sure the servers that supports SQL Server is working correctly
Protecting data Keeping the company within compliance procedures and within the law
Troubleshooting Resolving existing issues quickly and effectively
Training Users Providing current, useful information to other teams to help build better applications and processes

Preferred Qualities, Qualifications and Experience Proven Microsoft SQL Server 2008 - 2016 Database Administration Experience . Hands on experience of Clustering and Always On. Experience of managing multiple large DBMS. Practical experience in managing the MS SQL database security. Relevant Microsoft accreditation. Experience of the System Centre management stack; SCOM; SCCM; SCORCH etc. Experience of working in a team that delivers a high availability service.
