Rare opportunity to join a start-up technology company in Cambridge. This friendly, collaborative company requires a junior Research Engineer to join their R&D team. Under the supervision of their Research Engineers, you will contribute to researching and evaluating new algorithms to push the limits of their unique technology. Responsibilities include developing new algorithms in house, identifying and reporting on state of the art methods, and evaluating both types of solutions on large scale field data sets. Skills: - Demonstrable skills in Digital Signal Processing and/or Machine Learning applied to Audio Signals. - Demonstrable experience dealing with at least one type of Machine Learning algorithm (e.g., Deep Neural Networks, Hidden Markov Models, Support Vector Machines, Decision Trees etc.) applied to the processing of Audio Signals. - Scripting and algorithm prototyping: Python, bash. - Programming: C/C++ coding and code optimisation. - Development under Linux/Unix mandatory, Windows optional. Desirable: - Demonstrable interest in porting DSP/Machine Learning algorithms to either embedded platforms or high performance computing platforms a plus but not a requirement. - CUDA/GPU programming a plus but not a requirement. - Hardware design knowledge a plus but not a requirement. - Experience with at least one standard Machine Learning package, amongst but not limited to: SciKit-Learn, Weka, Torch, Theano, Tensorflow, HTK, Kaldi etc. Personal Attributes: - Ability to deliver on research and evaluation methodology. - Good communication skills. - Excellent problem-solving skills. - Track record of academic publications a plus but not a requirement. - Enjoy working as a member of a team and using their own initiative. - Self-confident and highly motivated. - Ability to deal confidently with a variety of people at all levels. - Able to manage own workload and meet deadlines. - Good organisational skills. - Good standard of written and spoken English. Education: - Master’s degree in an appropriate field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience: - Master’s graduate, professional experience in a related area a plus; must show experience or interest for sound recognition through relevant educational programs and study projects
