Service Engineer The company Our client is a national, thirty-years established leader in developing, testing and refining a range of machine tools for a range of businesses in the U.K. They provide new, ex-demo and used machines that come with a next day or same day service policy to support the customer. You will be joining a team of 15 engineers working in their designated regions to support the company and your clients. What is the purpose of the role? To provide support on site to customers and keep their machines running in a timely and efficient manner. This will include commissioning, servicing, fault finding and repairs. The work will involve working at customer’s premises. What will you do? • Commissioning of machines. • Carrying out routine service work, overhauling and replacing parts according to service schedules. • Calibrate machines to keep them within the manufacture’s tolerances. • Fault finding and fixing faults, this may include ordering replacement parts. • Writing detailed reports (nature of fault, parts replaced, worked carried out, time travelling and on site etc). • Fitting ancillary equipment (DRO’s, power drawbars, etc) • Fitting ProtoTRAK systems on new or used machines • Keeping the service manager informed on progress • Responding immediately to requests to visit customers in the field • Any other duties that may be required within your capabilities • Attend training courses as and when required. What skills and experience will you have? • Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles including bearings, pulleys, motors, gears, lubrication etc. • Basic electrical knowledge to include measuring voltage, current and reading an electrical diagram. • What will you get in return? • 28 Days • Pension • Circa £35,000 • Overnight allowance
