Mechanical Design Engineer – Capital Equipment and Machinery
Dudley - £30,000 - £40,000 + Excellent Benefits

The Role

As Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be tasked with designing and developing completely bespoke automated systems from concept through to installation and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support a full lifecycle product development effort (design, develop, test prototypes, manufacture and implement)
  • Engage with external engineering resources and work packages for the R+D programmes
  • Design systems and components that meet needs and requirements for formal 3rd party certification
  • Produce outline designs
  • Test and evaluate theoretical designs (Identifying and formulating effective solutions to emerging problems)
  • Overall evaluation of prototype, first article performance, reliability and safety
  • Alter and modify design to meet requirements and to eliminate malfunctions
  • Estimate budget and scope of project
  • Solicit observations from operators
  • Prepare product reports and documentation
  • Engage in lifelong learning and develop new theories or methods.
The Person
  • Recognised engineering qualifications; with a HND or Degree being preferable.
  • A proven track-record working within a Mechanical Design Engineer position with complex systems or heavy engineering machinery.
  • Understanding of mechanical systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, control systems and automation.
  • Knowledge of large-scale manufacture, for example steel fabrication and weldments.
  • Proficiency with Solidworks CAD, Simulation and Finite Element Analysis.
  • The ability to solve engineering problems, and communicate clearly across all levels.
