For the right candidate, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast paced company and advanced Audio Visual department. The right candidate will experience a rewarding role that blends a mixture of hands on technology maintenance and support and end user satisfaction whilst keeping up to speed often being at the forefront of new technologies. The role will involve supporting the Senior AV engineer working to support the hardware in these existing areas (and any new AV facilities) to make sure that down time, faults or wear and tear is kept to an absolute minimum. Onsite AV hardware for Live events or group announcements is also supported and setup in open areas when required. Supported areas include: • Meeting room hardware, systems and their automation • Meeting room booking systems • Video conferencing room systems and the VC infrastructure hardware • Digital signage LED Wall display hardware • Building wide Exterity IPTV system • Daily checks, monitoring and proactive preventative maintenance on all AV installations and key Executive stakeholder systems to ensure any potential issues are found and resolved as quickly as possible • Projection systems, Television screens and open area flat panel video displays (wall, ceiling or desk mounted) • Installation of new AV equipment in smaller meeting rooms, offices or open areas, mounting screens and bracketry, running cabling for device connectivity etc • Live event equipment - Projectors, screens, large mobile flat panels and PA/sound systems - in house or at external corporate events and conferences • Stock responsibility for onsite AV spares required by the business • Auditing of onsite AV equipment/assets to assist in replacement programs and technology renewals The AV Operations Team works in very close partnership with the wider Group IT division, in particular the Executive IT Support team, Desktop Support team and Network team as well as third party vendors on a daily basis in order to deliver an effective service. In the AV Engineer role, we expect the candidate to react quickly to any hardware issues found during collaborative daily checks and to effectively resolve any faults found or reported to us by the IT division and business. You will need to possess the right attitude, professionalism, diplomacy and commitment in order to build trusted working relationships with the team and customers, whilst shaping the perception of AV Operations as a whole. Managing the expectations of key customers and understanding the pressure of the deadline-driven environment in which they work is a must. The role will require outstanding communication skills and the ability to explain diagnosed technical issues in a clear, concise and non-patronising manner when dealing with executives. The candidate will instil confidence and take ownership of an issue and see it through to successful completion. You will be personable, diplomatic and able to engage with others at all levels across teams and customers. Technical Skills Desirable • Electrical, Engineering and Audio Visual technology installations and live events background is essential • Understanding of control/automation systems and their components specifically Crestron (DMPS), AMX, Extron, Kramer • Level of understanding of Video conferencing systems from Vidyo, Cisco, Polycom • Ability to solder, make and terminate Audio Visual cables and continuity testing of cabling issues to rule out issues • Understanding of Video and Audio standards with history of older analogue and current digital solutions/systems • Experience with projectors and their maintenance, bulb changes, calibration etc • The ability to read and follow technical wiring diagrams to understand system designs and to aid fault finding • Competency across multiple operating systems is desirable, Windows, Apple Mac OSX and iOS and Android • Competency using and connecting Video sources/devices including, Satellite boxes, PC’s, Mac’s, laptops, tablets and mobile devices. Flexibility • The successful candidate will understand that the team cover/operate from 8am until 6pm Monday to Friday – however flexibility to work out of hours at short notice is essential to prevent disruption to the senior exec level meetings and expectations. Additional hours worked outside of the usual shift will be given back in lieu and can be taken as agreed with the head of department • Infrequent (planned) travel will be required to other UK destinations and Europe where a minimal amount of services are required for executives within the business. • An out of hours telephone escalation for critical hardware faults for key installations/executives does exist which the successful candidate will be required to join – escalations are checked and sanitised when they occur, often very infrequently. This is a direct client appointment and a great opportunity for an installation engineer who is tired of racing from one side of the country to the other.
