A leading public sector organisation are seeking an Interim Director of Health and Safety to lead on the provision of their Health and Safety function ensuring full compliance and best practice is adhered to. Main Responsibilities: You will act as a senior member of the leadership team in order to review and implement a new Health & Safety policy, codes and practice to ensure that compliance is achieved. The role will advise on suitable and sufficient risk assessment and risk control across the portfolio. Facilitating the control of safety and occupational health risks by the implementation of a Health and Safety Management System (SMS), which will promote compliance with legislative requirements and help ensure conformity to the H&S Policy Statement and Framework. You will be expected to develop and deliver relevant training programmes to staff members. Lead the investigation of ‘lost time’ incidents and significant near misses/dangerous occurrences, and will support staff to carry out inspections and other health and safety monitoring tasks. This role will work across departments and will require a high level of stakeholder engagement to ensure a robust Occupational Health Surveillance Service is provided. Person Specification: The post holder will possess demonstrable experience in all aspects of health &safety across a similar client side public sector environment (previous education/NHS experience would be advantageous). You will possess a NEBOSH Diploma and/or recognised H&S qualification such as BSc/MSc in Occupational Safety. Membership of IOSH at Graduate level or above is essential. This post will suit professionals who are adept at developing policies and procedures with a proven track record in a lead auditing function.
