Paragon Meed is recruiting for a client who is a well established family owned fabrication business that specialises in steel fabrication. The company fabricates bespoke items and structural steelwork for a number of sectors in accordance to client’s designs and specifications. They provide a 360 degree service from design and fabrication to installation and handover with a highly trained qualified in house/ external team of installers. The company has over 30 years experience in the metal fabrication industry and during this time developed a reputation of excellence and quality work. Steel Estimator We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a wealth of experience in architectural/metalwork and planning for our office in Preston. The Steel Estimator will be working within an estimating team on a range of projects within the commercial and residential sector. Due to the business growth and the daily workload over the last two years the need for a Steel Estimator has arisen. The Steel Estimator will have the ability to read structural steel drawings/designs and be capable of measuring from drawings, doing the take offs to work out full costs and provide full quotations. The ideal candidate will have previous experience within the fabrication industry or have worked as a draughtsman within a steel or Metalwork business. The Steel Estimator will be liaising with clients and architects so must be presentable and well spoken. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast growing innovative company which will give the successful candidate the chance to progress their career within the business Steel Estimator Position Overview •Measuring from drawings •Take off's •Live close to Preston (within 1Hr) •Measuring costs •Preparing full quotations •Interpreting Architects designs •Providing engineering advise Steel Estimator Position Requirements •Fabrication background or worked as a designer within a heavy Steelwork/Metalwork business •Experience of Take- offs and re-designs •Ability to liaise with client from small SME’s to blue chip clients •Minimum 2 years' experience working as an estimator •Education to degree level or equivalent •Have a good understanding of technical drawings, construction methods and engineering principles •A good knowledge of Tekla/Auto-cad but not essential•Strong planning, organisation and time management skills •Ability to prioritise work under pressure whilst meeting tight deadlines •Success in developing healthy, long term client relationships Desired: •Attention to detail and a methodical approach to work •Strong communication skills •Good timekeeper •Positive attitude •Good problem solver Salary and benefits: TBC •Pension •28 Days Holiday
