Melbreck are working with this leading designer and manufacturer of Aerospace and Defence equipment who are based in the South West in Dorset. Due to continued growth within sales and the development of new products they are looking to strengthen their quality team and as such are looking to recruit for a Quality Engineer. As a Lead Quality Engineer you will be: Deputise for the Quality Manager as required leading the entire team and reporting to Operations Management/Executives as required Lead the Quality Engineer team in day to day activities Driver of QE team CI activities Train and mentor the Quality team Establish and maintain the Quality Manuals, Expositions, procedures and processes for compliance to Aerospace Standards and Regulations Establish and maintain the internal audit schedule to AS9100 and EASA, FAA and DAOS regulations Lead and carry out product and process audits ensuring the annual audit plan is achieved Periodic reviews of the BMS with the Functional Owners of the procedures and processes Support the liaison with external parties on matters relating to the BMS Monitor the BMS to ensure its continuing suitability, adequacy and effectiveness Ensure BMS processes are measured and analysed to improve or maintain their effectiveness Support the regular review of quality objectives Participate in and provide support for management reviews and the roll out of the BMS procedures and processes. Ensure that the BMS is in compliance with the agreed customer requirements Investigate process non-conformances, perform root cause analysis, instigate corrective action and perform 8D’s where required Collate and evaluate data pertaining to quality metrics for reporting Conduct examination of EASA Authorised Operators and Certifying Staff in accordance with EASA regulations Identify and conducting training as required Develop and maintain work instructions within the Quality function Assist in promoting an awareness of the importance of Quality Assurance function within the company ensuring that any weaknesses identified are rectified and processes improved as appropriate Promote a culture of continuous improvement and support the continuous improvement programme Keep yourself up-to-date with relevant Quality issues and methods by means of training courses, seminars, technical publications etc Promote a culture of co-operation and high morale within the department Comply with Health and Safety and relevant company policy and procedures You may be requested to perform any other task necessary for the effective running of the Quality Department Requirements for the role: Education The role requires a CQI (Chartered Quality Institute, formerly IQA – Institute of Quality Assurance) Diploma in Quality or other similar qualification. Other qualifications such as an HNC in Engineering may be considered. Experience At least five years’ experience in a Quality Assurance role, with experience within an AS/EN9100, EASA Part 21G and Part 145 environment. Experience in the Aerospace industry is desirable although others will be considered. An understanding, or a willingness to undergo training to understand, textile products, their properties and testing requirements is required. Ability to perform Root Cause Analysis (inc. 8D methodology) Detailed knowledge of testing procedures is required. IT literacy (Microsoft Office Suite) and bespoke data management systems This role has a lot of potential and is a key part of the departments succession planning for the next 3 to 5 years.
