Engineering Systems Analyst Strategic business unit: • Headquartered in the UK, Coventry, the client are a global engineering group specialising in extreme environment components and smart sub-systems. • Some 11,000 people are employed across manufacturing facilities in Asia, Europe and North America and regional bases in Brazil, India and the Middle East. • Meggitt’s civil aerospace presence covers large commercial transports, regional aircraft, business jets, helicopters and general aviation. • Its defence markets cover all military aircraft types, land systems, naval platforms and aerial, land-based and marine threat simulation training and weapons systems development. • The firearms element of this capability extends into law enforcement and security organisations. • The group’s growing presence in energy is driven by our core fluid controls, heat management and sensing and monitoring capabilities, many of which are deployed to help reduce the maintenance costs, fuel consumption and carbon emissions of industrial gas and steam turbines. Engineering Systems Analyst Purpose: • The Engineering Systems Analyst will support day to day operations and maintenance of engineering applications such as Catia v5, SmarTeam, Enovia, Solidworks, AutoCAD, DOORS, MatLab, LabView, Accurev, Jira, and other engineering application. • In addition to daily operations and support, this role will work on engineering applications related projects such as version upgrades, migrations to standard tools, new implementations and supporting other team members on such projects. • This role will need to fulfil these duties in a complex, large and geographically separated environment. Engineering Systems Analyst Responsibilities: • Addressing issues with engineering applications submitted via ticketing system • Supporting and performing system and application upgrades of engineering software • Working with other business analysts on projects related to engineering applications and implementations • Ensuring highly standardized deployment and maintenance of servers, storage, databases and server applications • Assisting in the long term migration to standard engineering tools • Supporting backup solutions, storage solutions, data management (archival and recovery), servers (virtual and physical), databases, server applications • Following approved processes and standard operating procedures to ensure the highest level of system integrity, performance and stability • Assisting with requests from the operation services team and business analysts • Ensuring all systems are backed up per agreed backup schedule; ensures data management integrity (storage, archival and recovery) per the data management policy • Assisting less experienced personnel and share knowledge freely • In collaboration with technical analysts, monitoring the health and performance of systems; executes standard maintenance and performance tuning, as well as unplanned remediation • Participating in the planning and execution of disaster recovery exercises • Performing periodic security audits as required by IT standards • Developing and executes test procedures as required to ensure optimum system performance, reliability, availability, security and operational stability • Implementing all necessary performance management, capacity planning and system administration processes to maximize support and availability of computer infrastructure Engineering Systems Analyst Key skills and competencies required: • University degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical field • Experience in configuration and troubleshooting of SmarTeam or DOORS or CATIA or ENOVIA • Advanced experience with Microsoft desktop environments (Office, Windows, etc.) • Understanding of custom coding in engineering systems • Familiarity with working with virtual servers in VMWare • Experience developing and implementing support and administration procedures • Strong written and oral communication skills • Strong organizational skills; experienced in prioritizing tasks ensuring that the most critical requirements are addressed first and at the earliest possible opportunity • Strong team player adept at collaborating with team members to support a multi-site customer base. • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and web- browsers • Proficient in Project Management tools (i.e., MS Project) or similar project tool (s) Engineering Systems Analyst Desirable skills: • Experience with VB-type scripting a plus • Familiarity with ITAR and data export restrictions • Familiarity with IT ticketing system and working tickets with SLAs, etc. a plus (LANDesk) Engineering Systems Analyst Other: • Travel both UK and worldwide • Location: Coventry, West Midlands • Reports directly to Applications Support Manager
