Job purpose: Provides professional and administrative support to the Data Protection & Information Governance Lead and to the Governance team. Independently handles all requests for information made under the Data Protection Act, the Freedom of Information Act and the Environmental Information Regulations. Represent Governance colleagues` needs and requirements to the Information Coordinator Network and the Corporate Records Manager. Champion system and process changes, relating to the management of information, resulting from IT system upgrades or new legal and best practice requirements. Main accountabilities -Manage all requests for information, including Police and other third party requests, in accordance with the statutory rights and time limits under the relevant Data Protection legislation and in the spirit of the Freedom of Information Act or Environmental Information Regulations. -Collaborate with relevant colleagues to provide a joined-up approach to handling requests and to collate all relevant electronic (including CCTV footage) and manual data for disclosure; ensuring that exempt data is appropriately redacted before sending out with responses. -Draft response letters for all requests in accordance with statutory duties and obligations under the Data Protection legislation -Produce performance statistics of requests and response times for inclusion in Data Protection performance reports to Executive Management Team -Work jointly with Data Protection & Information Governance Lead to provide timely data protection compliance advice to colleagues on request; -Review annually all types of personal data processing undertaken within for Metropolitan and its subsidiary companies for publication. -Assist the business units with undertaking Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIA) for new business initiatives, projects and IT developments -Maintain and review Information Governance Policies periodically for updating -Provide support, as and when required, to maintain continuity of business within the Governance team. Key experience and qualifications required -Must be BCS/ISEB qualified in Data Protection Act (or equivalent) or have demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the Data Protection legislation, including up to date knowledge and understanding of GDPR, UK Data Protection Bill and other privacy directives coming into effect in 2018 -Ability to explain complex information to a variety of audiences and to think strategically to find solutions to problems -Able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of IT systems and collating data from a customer management IT system -Proficient with using Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Project and Word applications. -Ability to demonstrate excellent attention to detail and time management -Demonstrable inter-personal skills to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders
