NHS Lanarkshire

Contract Type
Full Time
The post is intended to provide the specialist clinical and professional skills of a Consultant Psychiatrist in the area of Forensic Psychiatry.

The post-holder would be based at Carluke Health Centre currently for forensic psychiatry work, as part of the Forensic Community Mental Health Team for Lanarkshire, providing RMO input to patients in North Lanarkshire, in conjunction with a consultant forensic psychiatry colleague. The service is an innovative one which works to a recovery model. The team includes medical staff, nursing staff, psychologists, occupational therapists and administrative staff. We have embraced the Scottish Patient Safety Programme, with work ongoing which has been nationally and internationally recognised.

Inpatient care will be provided at the Wishaw General Hospital psychiatric units, under the auspices of general adult psychiatric services (although specialist forensic inpatient care is also provided at the Beckford Lodge site in Hamilton), but this post is currently entirely community-based – although some review of inpatients might be required on an ad hoc basis. The job plan provides time for non-clinic based activities, as well as CPD, research, and audit.
