Associate Adviser - Caledonian & Rural Track GPST Programmes

GP Educator
Part Time; 2 PAs (8 hours per week). 1 x 2 session post or 2 x 1 session post

Applications are sought from enthusiastic General Practitioners with educational experience for the post of Associate Advisor for the Caledonian & Rural Track programmes in the North Region of the Scotland Deanery. Programme details are contained in the programme descriptors and more personal information can be found on the North of Scotland GP Training Blog.

The role of the Associate Advisor is to provide support to the Training Programme Directors in the educational management of the programme. This will include working in close collaboration with others in and across the Regional teams and with clinical and educational supervisors to:

• Support the Training Programme Director in providing support for GPSTs, Educational Supervisors, and Training Practices in line with Scottish Quality Management and ARCP regulatory processes required for GPSTs to gain Completion Certificate in training CCT. This will include undertaking Educational Management Meetings in support of the TPD.
• Provide a lead role in supporting and developing the GPST Education Programme for Caledonian and Rural Track (CRT) trainees.
• In conjunction with the CRT GPAA team provide a team based approach to Educational Supervisor support including individual feedback, meetings and trainer workshop support.
• In conjunction with the CRT GPAA team provide a team based approach to work to encourage recruitment to GP Specialty Training.
• Support the GP Director’s outcomes for QM of NoS and CRT programmes including practice and hospital department visiting.
• This list is not exhaustive, and may be amended as required in response to National developments.
• Work closely with the Caledonian Programme TPD and the rest of the GP Team in the North in workload that is shared across the programmes
It is anticipated that the successful candidate will be based in Centre for Health Science in Inverness.

You should have an MBChB and MRCGP or equivalent and be fully registered with the GMC. Some previous involvement in postgraduate or undergraduate training or other medical educational activity is desirable as well as having a good working knowledge of primary and secondary care and education.
