Quantity Surveyor - Mixed Use Development
My client is a well-known and reputable regional contractor, who is currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to work on one of their flagship residential developments, following continued expansion and increased workload.
Based on site, in Manchester, you will be working on a £80m mixed use development, consisting of residential high rise, commercial office blocks and restaurants and retails units, with the build being spread over several years.
Reporting to the Managing Surveyor on a weekly basis, you will be responsible for the commercial activities on site. Typical duties will include:
"Profit - control profit forecasts, reconcile costs/values, provide feedback on deviation from cost bill, control all expenditures
"Valuations/Finance - compile valuations, record and price variations, maximise external valuations, prepare internal valuations, measure works accurately, prepare and forecast final accounts
"Sub contract control - value subcontract works, prepare subcontract liability statements, ensure compliance with subcontractor conditions, minute subcontract meetings, agree subcontract final accounts, recover any losses
"Legal/Contractual - ensure compliance with contract conditions, ensure subcontract documents comply with main contract conditions
Skills & Experience required
To be suitable for this role, you must be commercially astute, methodical and have the desire and drive to deliver results. You must also have previously worked for a main contractor and worked in at least one the aforementioned sectors, ideally on projects worth £10m+ in value.
It is essential that you are qualified to HNC or degree level and have very strong commercial skills to maximize value recovery, cost control and cash management. It is also vital that you are contractually aware, with an excellent knowledge and understanding of sub-contract orders and buying.
