We currently have an exciting opportunity for someone with people management experience and financial crime knowledge to join the team based at Yorkshire Drive in the role of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) & Sanctions Team Manager.

Reporting to the Financial Crime Operations Manager, the AML & Sanctions Manager is responsible for overseeing the day to day management and professional development of the team. Working closely with the other AML & Sanctions Manager, the AML & Sanctions team is responsible for the prevention, detection and investigation of money laundering and terrorist financing and compliance to the financial sanctions regime.

Your main responsibilities will include:
• Managing the day to day operations of the team - setting priorities, planning work programmes/schedules, planning individual and team training/coaching and development – to ensure adherence to Group Business Standards and also compliance with relevant regulation/legislation
• Effective recruitment, quality assurance and performance reviews for direct reports and support for the wider team
• Providing advice and support to the business and colleagues to protect members and the Group, whilst providing a positive customer experience
• Overseeing the investigation, record keeping and QA processes for team activities including -Suspicious Activity Reporting (SARs), High Risk customers and accounts, Politically Exposed Persons (PEP), Sanctions
• Challenge working practices, define improvements and lead implementation of solutions to maximise effectiveness and colleague experience
• Lead and manage complex financial crime cases, applying knowledge to achieve an appropriate outcome
• Develop and maintain record keeping systems and processes which aid the production of management information. To ensure accurate and relevant information is available to support the management of budgets and forecasting and the regular reporting to senior management, committees and Regulator
• Effective cost management and budgeting

Essential skills and experience required for the role:
• Experience of people management – including recruitment, coaching, performance and absence management, 1-2-1 meetings and associated activities, goal setting & talent retention
• Knowledge of financial crime related risks, regulation and legislation
• Experience of budgeting and effective cost management
• Highly motivated, enthusiastic and professional, delivering work to a consistently high standard and within agreed timescales
• The ability to work with minimal oversight and also part of a wider management team
• Ownership for own workload with excellent prioritisation, organisational and delegation skills
• The ability to work effectively and accurately under pressure with attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills at all levels – both verbal and written, with the ability to challenge constructively

Desirable skills and experience required for the role:
• ICA Certificate/Advanced Certificate in AML
