Quality Controller

Our client is a leading provider of manufacturing, filling and packing services to the health and beauty industries. A vacancy has arisen for a Quality Controller to join their busy and hardworking team in St Leonards on Sea.

As a Quality Controller you will be responsible for the creation, development and maintenance of the quality policy, as well as the integration and implementation of the policy across all areas of the business. The ideal Quality Controller will have demonstrable experience within a similar role and a production environment, as well as possess excellent communication and computer skills.

The ideal Quality Controller will hold the following skills and experiences:

  • Be computer literate
  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Experience within production environment
  • Quality related training or qualification is desirable
  • ISO, Auditing experience or training is desirable

Your duties as a Quality Controller will include:

  • Propose and, where required, implement such changes and adjustments as are required to ensure full compliance with the Policy and linked accreditations
  • Carrying out regular reviews and audits of all internal Quality practices and procedures, correctly document findings and taking action where appropriate and required
    • Setting standards for all incoming components and ensuring that these are shared with the Buying Team and subsequently the suppliers
    • Ensuring that the company’s Quality Policy is fully in accordance with the requirements of the company’s chosen industry standards and accreditations at all times
    • Working with the Technical Department to ensure Raw Material Standards are issued prior to purchase and the related incoming stock is tested correctly
    • Ensuring that all reworks or repacks are carried out in accordance with the specified procedure
    • Keeping aware of changes in current industry practices and compliance requirements and ensure that these are reviewed and changes implemented where required
    • Carrying out all staff training in relation to the quality standards, practices and procedures to ensure that all staff are fully aware of the company policy and understand its importance and their role in achieving compliance
    • Working with Managers and Team Leaders to establish the relevant systems and procedures across the business that will ensure compliance at all times across the business
    • Attending, as required, any production or progress meetings arranged to plan the production area programme
    • Being responsible for the creation of customer ‘Gold Seal’ samples and their subsequent sign-off
    • Utilising standard tables to determine and set Acceptance Quality Limits (AQLs) that directly relate to the specific item or event for all inspection activities
    • Setting line standards for each new job and ensuring that operational staff are monitoring production against these correctly and consistently
    • Carrying out quality checks on all incoming components, both bought in and free issue, and to be responsible for the release or rejection of these items for use
    • Ensuring that all procedures and activities are accurately and correctly documented at all times to comply with the company’s responsibility for full traceability throughout the business
    • Working with suppliers and internal departments to establish, and agree, operationally acceptable standards and working practices relating to quality
    • Working with customers and the Sales Team, to establish quality standards, and related procedures, for all free issue items
    • Being responsible for managing any quality complaints raised by customers and, in conjunction with the relevant internal/external departments, ensuring that the matter is resolved within an agreed timescale. Additionally to ensure that all findings are fully documented, reports generated and, together with all related correspondence, stored to enable full retrieval at any time and that the whole process is in accordance with the stated company procedure
    • Being the point of contact for any externally instigated Quality Audit and to take responsibility for managing the implementation of any issues raised in terms of non-conformance
    • Being responsible for the issue of full reports on any quality failure or non-compliance
    • Working in accordance with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work legislation and the company’s environmental and ethical policies as well as Good Manufacturing Practice
    • Working towards Key Performance Targets (KPIs)
    • Carrying out any reasonable task as directed by the Directors of the Company


£20,000 - £24,000 per annum, depending on experience


Monday – Friday, 8am - 5.30pm
