Key Responsibilities: The purpose of this role is to develop electronic control and power distribution systems and will include: * Designing DC and AC marine power systems * Designing and integrating with electrical control systems for boats * Integrating with supplier equipment * Generating detailed 2D CAD production drawings and complete bills of materials * Controlled issuing of drawings for production * Design and prototyping of PCBs * Writing documentation including user manuals * Detailing of cable routing and the hardware to support it * Creating test rigs for prototype equipment * Selecting commercial-off-the-shelf equipment and designing products around it * Specifying cables, connectors, containers and other components * Working knowledge of, and ability to work to, marine electrical and electronic standards * Knowledge of RF equipment including radios, cabling, antennas and connectors * Writing detailed test and acceptance documents * Providing support to electrical and mechanical production staff * Control system commissioning and testing (in factory and at sea). * Factory and customer acceptance trials including sea trials. * Working with sales engineers to estimate resources and timescales to develop electrical systems. * Working closely with the entire engineering and development teams in both the UK and USA. Requirements: Essential; * Electronics degree or significant equivalent experience * Demonstrable industry experience Designing Analogue and Digital electronic circuits * Experienced in schematic capture and defining PCB layout requirements * Knowledge of 32bit microcontrollers * Design of serial bus interface circuits (I2C / CANbus / USB / Ethernet) * Design of power management systems (DC:DC, battery management, Load switches etc) * Designing and integrating with electrical control systems, integrating with COTS items * The ability to fault find, test and interrogate systems * Selecting commercial-off-the-shelf equipment and designing products around them * Generating detailed drawing data packs suitable for issue to production * Writing detailed test and acceptance documents * Providing support to production staff * Working with sales engineers to estimate resources and timescales * Working closely with the entire design and development teams in both the UK and USA * Able to work flexible hours and to travel when required Desirable, Not essential; * Experience of PCB layout design * Creating test rigs for prototype equipment * Knowledge of good design practises for EMC and ESD including Product Certification / EMC Compliance * Knowledge of RF equipment including radios, cabling, antennas and connectors * Knowledge of high reliability systems, SIL electronics * Experience working with and developing FPGA`s * Experience in PLC programming * Experience of micro controller firmware development * Knowledge of CE marking and documentation * Writing technical documentation including user manuals * Project management/technical lead experience * Knowledge of marine wiring practices * Experience in defence, oil and gas or ocean science industries * Experience of the marine environment, either through business or leisure activities Matchtech acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers and is part of Gattaca Plc.
