The Company: I am currently representing a regional financial planning/IFA firm based in Rotherham who are looking to add a paraplanner to their back-office team structure across Q1 this year. This role coming into a small team of 2 paraplanners, 3 support staff and 4 advisers and offers a superb opportunity to technically challenge yourself in a HNW, complex-case environment. The business culture is family feel biased in a relaxed, yet professionally focused and client-centric working environment so would suit a qualified, or part-qualified paraplanner looking to be quite hands-on in a challenging research/report writing role.
The Role: The role itself will sit within their back-office support team and work closely with 2 high-performing financial advisers in particular to provide private clients with advice to help them achieve their financial goals. Specifically, the firm work extensively in the areas of investments and complex pensions within the 'at-retirement’ market space so there is a distinct bias towards this side of advice with several HNW private clientele part of their core portfolio. It is a stand-alone role allowing for some flexibility to scope the role somewhat and work consultatively alongside those 2 advisers, getting involved with client facing work (initial fact finds etc) as required. Standard duties & responsibilities include:
- Checking of Fact Find Information to ensure it meets FCA requirements
- Assisting with the identification of demands and needs and possible solutions
- Checking assessment to investment risk and capacity for loss
- Carrying our research on existing arrangements
- Carrying out whole of market research on products meeting clients needs and objectives
- Ensuring supporting documentation and records meet FCA and Tenet requirements
- Preparation of recommendations and suitability reports
- Communicating with clients and providers
The Person: As a minimum you will be working towards your QCF level 4 Diploma qualified and hold hands-on, practical experience of working within an IFA/private wealth environment supporting advisers in a parpalnning capacity. This role is wholly private wealth led, with no real involvement across group work so technical exposure across investments, pensions and IHT/trust work is required. Career advancement medium/longer term would be on the technical reporting side, or indeed supervisory side rather than a natural progression into advice so the role (although that is an option for the right person), so would suit a genuine technical analyst/paraplanner who wants to specialise and be challenged at this level.
