Lead Commercial Mid Market Underwriter - Reading

The successful candidate will receive first class training and development from an Insurer with a reputation for excellence. This role would be a great opportunity for someone who already possesses experience of commercial underwriting, but now wants to receive the portfolio of work, training and career progression that this market leading Insurer provides.
Based from the Reading regional office, you will be responsible for finding, developing and growing new business opportunities within the region. This will be achieved by generating enquiries from the brokers and working quickly and efficiently to provide them with quotations.
You will also have the opportunity to receive cross class training so you will be expected to demonstrate a broad skill base and a desire to acquire new underwriting skills.
You will generate and underwrite commercial risks from a designated panel of intermediaries, within your Underwriting Authority. You will maintain a high visibility in brokers’ offices and proactively lead the development of strong and dynamic trading relationships, taking full responsibility for the generation and conversion of profitable commercial business opportunities and Mid Market pipeline.
This role holds a unique position within our client’s business and is suited to someone who prefers the trading and underwriting side of commercial insurance, with the ability to fully utilise operational support for underwriting administration and document issue.
Individuals should be motivated by achieving personal financial targets, and will be preferentially remunerated in accordance with achieving a higher financial target.
You should be an experienced Commercial P&C Underwriter with the ability to lead face-to-face underwriting negotiations with brokers and clients; you should be highly self-motivated, and comfortable managing your own work-load and sourcing quality opportunities which help you to achieve your targets.
Commercial Underwriting experience is essential

Strong trading capability - commercial awareness, negotiation skills, ability to build strong broker relationships.
Pragmatic decision making, with excellent analytical and numerical reasoning skills.
Sound understanding of insurance market and processes
